  2. I looked it up – just over the border in Chechia, right? I like seeing them in both color and black and white. In general, rock formations like these excite me – what wonderful sculptures they are, like elephants sometimes. You present them in a way that is uniquely yours, with strong shadows, delicate spring light, wide views, and closer views. A pleasure, Karl! (My favorites are #1, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9).

    • As you are, we also were talking about the animal like rock formations. Even their surface do remind of an elephant skin. – It was a cold and windy day. But the light promised the long awaited spring. The Elbsandsteingebirge is not too far away from Leipzig. The german part of it is a bit overcrowded sometimes. It’s a hiking ground since some artists had discovered it as the equivalent to their inner landscape in the late 18th and first half of the 19th century. I’m telling this, because every view has its name and is converted into art of any sort many times. It’s not easy to avoid stereotypes. But hiking there is always a source of rich impressions combined with physical challenge. Regards – Karl

      • I think I missed this reply. We have many places in the US that have been made into art so many times that it’s almost impossible to avoid those stereotypes, so I understand what’re saying. And at the same time, it’s still worth going to these beautiful places, as you said, for the rich impressions and physical challenges. Anyway, I think you avoided commonplace images.
